The Harvest Community Church is a thriving and friendly local church based in the Goodwyns area of Dorking, serving this and the wider Dorking community.
We believe in God through the good news of Jesus Christ, who died for us on the cross and rose again ascending to heaven, to bring us new life both now and beyond this life, which is a free gift of His grace to all who come to Him in simple and sincere faith and trust.
We greatly enjoy celebrating this exciting faith and new life in our weekly worship which we so love sharing in together week by week! We have a very relaxed and informal approach to this and to all our other activities, where we really hope that people who come to visit or join us will find a warm and welcoming, loving and caring environment which is easy to access and which is not in any way intimidating or difficult to feel a part of.
We have a lovely congregation of mainly local people where everyone mucks in to serve and help each other as best we can and to reach out to help and serve our community also.
We have a great bunch of volunteers who contribute to making everytthing work so well and this is supported by our leadership team and our church leader, who is an ordained minister of the Elim Pentecostal church.
The Elim Pentecostal church denomination is a strong, thriving, modern and well run national body of churches and governance which upholds all the crucial tenets of biblical Christianity, with a particular emphasis on the dynamic empowerment of the Holy Spirit in life, worship and mission, which we fully subscribe to here locally in every way.
We are also active members of Churches Together in Dorking and enjoy sharing fellowship and friendship with all the other local church congregations, ministers and leadership groups in and around Dorking. We believe very strongly that unity among churches is a vital expression of our shared faith and a key priority in serving our community together.
Many of us live in this community where the church is situated and we have always strived to try to be a positive resource for the wider community, who we seek to serve and reach with the love of Jesus. An important element of this involves the offering our building and its resources to help serve the community in lots of practical ways, in recognition of the fact that, apart from our local school, there are not really any other community spaces nearby to serve this large area of housing.
Currently this invloves hosting as a venue for weekly events and activities such as Community Fridge food distribution, a community cafe, job centre sessions, a recovery group, a craft cafe and also occasional use for children's parties and other events.
